2010 Legislative Platform
The Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel
(KARSP) supports the following legislation:
-
Support the improvement of the KPERS defined
benefit plan.

Advocate for annual Cost of Living Adjustments
(COLA).

Support the elimination of any penalty for
working after retirement.
-
Provide adequate funding for the death and
disability program and increase KPERS retiree
death benefit to $5,000.
-
Advocate for public education, relevant societal
issues and needs of retirees.
-
Support adequate state funding for public
education pre-kindergarten through the
university level.
-
Support charter schools only when under
control of local boards of education.
-
Support opposition to the voucher system.
Kansas
Association of Retired School Personnel supports the
Kansas Coalition of Public Retirees, Kansas-AARP,
and coalitions with other professional organizations
and educational agencies which are working to
improve public education and public employee
retirement benefits.
