Volunteerism
Personified
THANK YOU
for turning in Volunteer Hours. This year KARSP
members turned in an amazing 502, 697 hours!
Using Independent Sector’s 2008 estimate for the
value of a volunteer hour, that represents
$10,179,614.25! Over 100 of our members were
given certificates for volunteering 900 or more
hours each! We are busy people!
There is
a large body of research that shows a definite
correlation of positive benefits to people who
volunteer. It is said to improve your mental and
physical health as well as add quality years to your
life. It has long been known that people who
volunteer experience intrinsic rewards that are
often hard to see or describe. What can be
seen is clear. Your touch lives! Strengthen
communities! Make a difference! Lead the way!
Change your part of the world for the better! Just
like educators have always done.
At the
convention in June Southwest Area Association of
Retired School Personnel received the
Outstanding Unit Award for the most number of
service hours per member. They were presented a
framed certificate and a check for $30.00.
Congratulations!
